Today it has been 97 years since the mysterious Albert Johnson was gunned down. Myth Merchant
Films, who have been working on a DNA analysis, has provided an air date of May 21, 2009. They may
have discovered something by now, but have been very secretive so far. I think secrecy has been possibly
my own downfall in this investigation. Whereas friends , acquaintances, and relatives have quite freely
provided me with the information I needed to complete this investigation, I have to admit that I didn't
adequately release all the information as I should have. I did not publicize the solution for nearly five years
after learning of the biggest clues (2002 to 2007). Furthermore, I do admit my motives had become selfish.
This story is my family history as well as a tragedy, and I'm not comfortable with the idea of profiting from it
and so deserve being excluded from the DNA investigation. When I contacted him in May 2004 Mike
Jorgensen the owner of Myth Merchant thought DNA would be the best way to complete the investigation. I
was not convinced the community would allow it to be extracted. Nevertheless, after making a partnership
with Carrie Gour, Myth Merchant did ultimately get access to the DNA.
In the meantime I have been searching to see if there are actually other substantive theories as to the
identity of Albert Johnson other than my Dad's uncle Sigvald. So far I've come up dry. There is of course
the well publicized Johnny Johnson theory, but I would concur with the RCMP report in 1937 that rules him
out. There was too many physical differences. More recently someone posted an Owen Johnson theory on
Wikipedia and in my forum but so far I haven't come up with follow-up information to assess it. I would like
to post any developments, but I do need some input. I've had two reports of binding failure on the books.
There must be a bad batch floating out there. If you have one of these please CONTACT ME. I have extra
copies of the book and would be happy to send out some free replacement ones.
